OVERVIEW OF JOB DESCRIPTION: To create a flexible program and an environment favorable to learning and personal growth for students; to motivate each student to develop skills, knowledge, and attitudes in accordance with ability; to develop the student’s special talents; to develop sound opinions based on facts; and to develop proficiency in inquiry skills and concepts.
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

Follows local, state and federal law and adheres to State Department of Education and Local School Board Policy.

Meets or exceeds the Arizona Professional Teacher Standards.

Meets and instructs assigned classes in the locations and at the times designated.

Teaches skills, knowledge, and attitudes to students on a grade level in the curriculum area of assignment, utilizing courses of study prescribed by the District Governing Board or other appropriate agencies.

Provides individual and small group instruction in order to adapt the curriculum to the needs of students with varying intellectual abilities, attitudes, and cultural backgrounds.

Provides instruction whereby students may develop concepts and appreciation for the course of study, enhancing their ability to make qualified judgments.

Develops instructional plans and organizes class time to provide a balanced program of instruction, demonstration and work time.

Develops students’ abilities for critical analysis and encourages independent thought and expression of original ideas.

Evaluates and maintains an accurate written record of each student’s performance, growth skills and knowledge.

Identifies student needs and cooperates with other professional staff members in helping students solve health, attitude, and learning problems.

Maintains professional competence through in-service education activities provided by the district, and/or in self selected professional growth activities.

Plans and supervises purposeful assignments for paraprofessionals, when appropriate.

Attends faculty meetings, participates on faculty committees, and sponsors student activities when assigned.

Prepares reports and maintains required inventory records.

Performs other job relevant duties as assigned.
REPORTS TO: Principal
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Work year to be established by the Board. Salary is determined by individual training and experience level on approved salary schedule.
EVALUATION: Performance of this position will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the Boards policy on evaluation of personnel.

Winslow High School is in search of an Athletic Trainer/Sports Med teacher to join the staff starting in October, please see the description and responsibilities below:
Head Athletic Trainer / Sports Medicine Teacher Provide Athletic Training Services to student athletes under the direction of the team physician or by written referral from a physician, and in accordance with state athletic training practice act. Responsible for teaching during the school day. Sports Medicine 1 and 2 classes, plus a Sports Med internship class. • If applicant does not have a Health Science certificate, CTE Director will meet prior to start date to begin the process. Salary in accordance with teacher salary and stipend for Athletic Trainer as set by the Winslow School Board.
Requirements
1. NATA Certification, Able to obtain AT license in the state of Arizona. 2. Provide athletic training services for all home athletic contests and away varsity football games. If a conflict arises between an away varsity football game and a home contest, the varsity football event will supersede. 3. Act as liaison between family physicians and specialists, the school district, athletes and their parents. 4. Maintain accurate records of injuries and treatments. 5. Develop and maintain a budget for the athletic training program. 6. Provide the coaches and athletic director with a list of athletes medically eligible to compete under district and state rules and regulations. 7. Assist the athletic director as requested. 8. Train and supervise student athletic trainers. 9. Teach a sports medicine curriculum during the school day.
